City Council LEADERSHIP
Appointed by City Council Democrats to fill an expiring term vacancy, John was selected for his independent voice. He is already working on solutions to financial crises affecting Erie’s families. Married to an educator for 42 years, John holds a special interest in helping Erie Public Schools find new ways to open doors of opportunity to Erie city youth in tough economic times. He is an active City Council presence on the the Erie Housing Authority, the Erie Western Pennsylvania Port Authority, the Police Pension Board and the Blighted Property Review Committee of the Erie Redevelopment Authority.

The father of a two daughters, one now on active military duty, John believes deeply in service above self. He shares his financial know-how, strategic planning expertise and consensus building skills with countless city and county community organizations both formally and as a trusted advisor. Former and current service includes board and membership positions with VisitErie; the Greater Erie Chamber of Commerce; Erie Rotary Club; Presbyterian Homes; Erie County Historical Society; Erie School District Financial Advisory Committee; Estate Planning Council of Erie; Erie Conference on Community Development; Hamot Health Foundation; and the United Way.

John’s long-standing commitment to the city began when he chose Erie to raise his family, to forge his career, then to build his local financial planning business. An MBA, CPA, Certified Financial Planner™, and Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor, John is an experienced financial leader. “Many of the issues the city faces are financial,” says John. “I have helped individuals, organizations and businesses tackle and solve similar problems for 35 years. I am anxious to apply that experience to Erie’s challenges.”
